Sun Life #LiveBrighter Session with Jonathan Yabut

Hey Everyone!

Last Wednesday, I attended Sun Life Financial's #LiveBrighter Session, it was held at the very cozy Gallery at Aspace located in Makati.

BTW, Sun Life's #LiveBrighter Sessions is a series of educational meet ups for potential and aspiring financial advisors where they show how a Financial Advisor lives up to the demands and rewards of the profession.

What's really special about this recent Live Brighter session is that Jonathan Yabut who is the first ever winner of the reality show "Aprentice Asia" was there as one of the speakers and shared a few of his ideals that helped him be what he is now. Here's a little background about Jonathan; after winning the mentioned reality show hosted by Malaysian business mogul Tony Fernandes, he served as Chief of Staff of Air Asia for a year, now runs his very own JY Consultancy & Ventures, which operates in Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

Aside from Jonathan, Mr. Juan Paulo "JP" Cruz Unit Manager-Jacaranda NBO of Sun Life Financial was also there as another speaker, he shared to us his very inspiring journey to brighter life by being a Sun Life Financial Advisor, he also gave us some insights of the perks that he is enjoying now that he is a successful Sun Life advisor.

Here are some snaps of the speakers.
From L-R; Ms.Fin Bernardo, Sun Life Financial Advisor Recruitment Manager who welcomed us at the start of the session, Jonathan Yabut, and Mr.JP Cruz.

Of course I also want to share to you guys the 4 important ideals that Jonathan shared to us that night, these are also what helped him win the Aprentice Asia.

There's also one last thing that is not in the photo; according to Jonathan, "The secret to success is out there: it's called GRIT" this is the most important thing that helped him emerge as the winner of the Apprentice Asia.

This is my favorite part of the session, when Jonathan told us the story of the $1.4M lettuce of Delta Airlines (yes! you have read right, lettuce!). A staff of the airlines suggested to the higher ups that they remove the lettuce from the meals that they serve in flight because almost everyone don't consume it and it also stinks big time when they dispose the leftovers, the airline's executives considered and executed the idea. After a few months, they conducted a survey to their clients to know how they felt after they removed the lettuce from the in flight meals, they were surprised that a lot of them didn't even notice that there's a lettuce, and some of them think the plate even looks cleaner, that one simple move, saved the airlines $1.4M in just one year.

The scenario can be compared to our lives, we might be keeping a lot of unnecessary things (can be a person, a hobby, a side job etc.) that when we decide to let go, it can save us a lot of time and energy or even money that we can use for more important things.

Here's a glimpse of the session, very cozy isn't it? It was a very educational and eye opening night for me, I was very inspired by Jonathan's and JP's stories, and those made me realize what are the important life goals that i need to prioritize now. :)
