Sun Life #LiveBrighter Session with Jonathan Yabut

Hey Everyone!

Last Wednesday, I attended Sun Life Financial's #LiveBrighter Session, it was held at the very cozy Gallery at Aspace located in Makati.

BTW, Sun Life's #LiveBrighter Sessions is a series of educational meet ups for potential and aspiring financial advisors where they show how a Financial Advisor lives up to the demands and rewards of the profession.

What's really special about this recent Live Brighter session is that Jonathan Yabut who is the first ever winner of the reality show "Aprentice Asia" was there as one of the speakers and shared a few of his ideals that helped him be what he is now. Here's a little background about Jonathan; after winning the mentioned reality show hosted by Malaysian business mogul Tony Fernandes, he served as Chief of Staff of Air Asia for a year, now runs his very own JY Consultancy & Ventures, which operates in Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

Aside from Jonathan, Mr. Juan Paulo "JP" Cruz Unit Manager-Jacaranda NBO of Sun Life Financial was also there as another speaker, he shared to us his very inspiring journey to brighter life by being a Sun Life Financial Advisor, he also gave us some insights of the perks that he is enjoying now that he is a successful Sun Life advisor.

Here are some snaps of the speakers.
From L-R; Ms.Fin Bernardo, Sun Life Financial Advisor Recruitment Manager who welcomed us at the start of the session, Jonathan Yabut, and Mr.JP Cruz.

Of course I also want to share to you guys the 4 important ideals that Jonathan shared to us that night, these are also what helped him win the Aprentice Asia.

There's also one last thing that is not in the photo; according to Jonathan, "The secret to success is out there: it's called GRIT" this is the most important thing that helped him emerge as the winner of the Apprentice Asia.

This is my favorite part of the session, when Jonathan told us the story of the $1.4M lettuce of Delta Airlines (yes! you have read right, lettuce!). A staff of the airlines suggested to the higher ups that they remove the lettuce from the meals that they serve in flight because almost everyone don't consume it and it also stinks big time when they dispose the leftovers, the airline's executives considered and executed the idea. After a few months, they conducted a survey to their clients to know how they felt after they removed the lettuce from the in flight meals, they were surprised that a lot of them didn't even notice that there's a lettuce, and some of them think the plate even looks cleaner, that one simple move, saved the airlines $1.4M in just one year.

The scenario can be compared to our lives, we might be keeping a lot of unnecessary things (can be a person, a hobby, a side job etc.) that when we decide to let go, it can save us a lot of time and energy or even money that we can use for more important things.

Here's a glimpse of the session, very cozy isn't it? It was a very educational and eye opening night for me, I was very inspired by Jonathan's and JP's stories, and those made me realize what are the important life goals that i need to prioritize now. :)

#MakeitMutual with Sun Life Asset Management

Hey Guys!

Last Wednesday, May 17,2017, Sun Life Asset Management held #MakeitMutual at B-Hotel Quezon City, present at the event were Gerald "GB" Bautista, Head of Bank and Alternative Distribution Channels of SLAMCI, Mylene Lopa, Chief Marketing Officer Sun Life Financial -Philippines, and Actor, Matteo Guidicelli.

At the event, they announced that they will be launching a new campaign called "Make It Mutual" a series of vlogs (video blogs) featuring Matteo Guidicelli which aims to educate Filipinos especially Millennials who are between 25 to 35 years old about how investing in mutual funds can make them achieve their life goals.

The vlogs will discuss topics that are relevant to personal finance, such as growing one's money, beating inflation and investing regularly.

All the vlogs will be released and shared in different social networking sites so it will be very accesible to us millenials who wanted to learn more about investing.

BTW, I just want to share this to you guys, I myself is a millennial who started working just a few years ago, and surprise surprise! I'm still having a hard time saving up, it's really hard to resist temptations knowing that I have access to my savings that's just sitting in my bank account, and everything's just a swipe away. Whenever I tell myself that I won't touch the money in that savings account, I still end up buying something online, or splurging a lot in that most anticipated 3 day sale of a local mall, and of course one of the biggest culprit is my online game addiction, I'm never contented that my in game avatar is just average, I always wanted to be stronger than other players, and I need to spend money to achieve that, that's the current cycle of my life. That's the reason why i'm really excited to learn about investing in mutual funds, it'll be a way for me to be able to break that never ending cycle.

#MakeItMutual was a really eye opening event for me, aside from learning that Matteo is a fellow millennial, (he's only 27 guys!) I learned that we can start investing in mutual funds with just Php5,000  via the Sun Life Prosperity Card, and you can add a minimum of Php1,000 to the fund every pay day or whenever you have extra money for saving, isn't it awesome? Everytime we hear or read about investments, mutual funds, etc. we always think that we'll need to have tons of money to be able to start, but with the Sun Life Properity Card, you can start with just Php5,000 and make it grow eventually. It's still best to talk to a financial advisor so that you can be guided how to start the right way.
You can visit to know more.

Here are some photos from the event. :)

Gravity, Electronics Extreme, and ELITE holds Ragnarok Festival plus Ragnarok Philippines' possible launch date

Hey Guys!

Happy Sunday!

Earlier, Ragnarok Festival was held at SM City North Edsa Annex.

For those who were not familiar with Ragnarok Online, it's the first full MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) that Filipino gamers loved and still love, the game was also known as the pioneer of MMORPGs here in our country, it's actually the first ever online game that I played way back when I was in high school.
A lot of Filipino gamers were devastated (including myself) last 2015 when the game formally shut down after 12 years of operation.

Anyway, the good news is Ragnarok Online will be back real soon here in the Philippines! The Ragnarok Festival is the first Ragnarok Online gaming event in years and it definitely hinted the return of the game here in PH.

The event featured everything RO, there were cosplay performances, RO inspired contests like the headgear designing competion, and the fan art contest, Imago and Sandwich was also there to entertain RO fans.

Here are a few snaps;

The most awaited part of the event is the  press conference featuring the COO of Gravity, Kitamura Yoshinori, COO of Electronics Extreme, Rithirong Kaewvicheara, and CEO of Elite, Johnny Paek.

(Gravity Co.Ltd., are the developers of RO, Electronics Extreme currently owns the publishing rights to Ragnarok Online in Asia, and ELITE is the Philippine publishing partner.)

They talked about the success of Ragnarok Online after its relaunch in Taiwan,  Thailand and Indonesia last year. According to a popular Taiwanese game web site, RO ranked number 1 as the most popular game in Taiwan and Thailand. And they said, "very soon" it'll be the number 1 game (again) here in the Philippines.

So here are some juicy bonus stuff, we were able to score a short interview with the COO of Electronics Extreme Mr.Rithirong Kaewvicheara and according to him, the earliest possible launch of Ragnarok Online here in PH is on the First week of June, and potentially, it will be Free to Play. When asked about the in game items, he said that most of the items will be dropped by mobs instead of buying everything from the item mall. That's all the info that they were able to give right now, but they promised that there will be more in the coming weeks. ;)

Here's a pic of the crowd in the event earlier, there are still more lined up outside the event area, this proves how excited everyone is for the return of Ragnarok Online here in PH. :)

And that's it for today!
I'll be updating you all as soon as they release more info about the upcoming relaunch of Ragnarok Online here in the Philippines, so stay tuned! You can also follow Ragnarok Online Philippines on Facebook for more details. ;)

'till next time!
